Gulfstream G650

*Sigh...*

In photos, I've always thought Gulfstream G III, IV, V, 400, 450, 500, 550 looked sexier than their Bombardier competitors.

That the G650 will have Bombardier Global Express 5000/XRS cabin height and width BUT fly faster and further AND weighing in at under 46,000 kg without use of that much composite, is something else. 7000 nm at Mach 0.85. And the credit goes, in my inexpert opinion, to the wing.

That wing is described has having a greater sweep than the wings of the G550 and carries all the fuel in the wing (unlike the Global Express XRS where the fuel is tucked here and there to increase the range). What is more remarkable, again in my inexpert opinion, is the wing is said to be bereft of leading edge devices. The meant something fancy has been done to the flaps to keep landing speed manageable or Gulfstream is going stupid by using... braking parachutes. In comparison, look at the wing of Cessna's Citation X, the only other Mach 0.92 non-military jet out in the market today.
