I realized the explanation I got as to why Chinese considers the number '8' lucky is rather... ludicrous.
After 20 years I go 'DOH !'
See... I was told '8' is lucky because when you write it in a single stroke you it ends with an upstroke. Go ahead write an '8'.
And yesterday I realized how silly that is. Why would the Chinese (hundreds or thousands of years ago) base their superstition on a foreign language? In this case, Arabic numerals.
