The Biscuit Tin

That old ubiquitos biscuit tin is no longer made of tin nor any metal.

Here in The Philippines, biscuit (or cracker) manufacturers (or industrial scale bakeries) have switched over to that material of the future: plastic.

Several biscuit (or cracker) manufacturers (or industrial scale bakeries) have done so, some for several years now, though there are still some hold-outs among smaller biscuit (or cracker) manufacturers (or less-than-industrial scale bakeries).

And I have been consuming much more crackers (plain, salted or graham) in order to obtain those rather useful re-sealable, almost airtight, food grade plastic containers to store those scrumptious, edible little bites that are so frowned upon by the medical profession.

However much the cost in switching from metal to plastic, it would appear to be well justified as it has increased biscuit consumption, on my part at least.
