Apple's recent re-alignment of its notebook line saw the inclusion of a SD-card reader that is bootable.

Now I am wondering if this is a presages the deletion of optical drives not only in notebooks but in all of their computers save, perhaps, the Mac Pro.

Were this to happen in notebooks the benefit of all that space would accrue in a larger battery.
