Wonders Of Mathematics

Or what mathematicians do when they're bored and obsessed.

Jason Brown, Dalhousie University's Department of Mathematics and Statistics, uncovers the hidden secret of George Harrison's guitar intro of 'A Hard Day's Night'.

Dr. Brown deduced that Beatle's producer, George Martin, may have a ticled the ivories in that recording.

3-D Movies

Since the 2006 release of Beowulf, news about 3-D filmmaking, 3-D display, more 3-D movies have been intruding on my consciousness.

Is today's technology be sufficient for another comeback for 3-D?

George Lucas Yanks Dissy Review Of 'Clone Wars'

It seems George Lucas has developed thin skin this days, removing critical reviews of 'Clone Wars'.

In my opinion, George Lucas did not go into a steep decline after 'Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi", he jumped off form one precipice to another.

Anyone recall 'Howard the Duck'?

Some Technical Details On Batman: The Dark Knight

Film & Video has an interesting article pertaining to using IMAX to film a number of sequence of Batman: The Dark Knight.

That film is just pushed way past the technical boundries of film making (or should I say movie making?).

8K pixel resolution, processed on 900 quad-core processors, processing 200MB per frame, the whole film churned out a total of 100TB of data.

Niiiice...

Cartoon Shows I Like

Shaun the Sheep on Disney, for the clay animation. And it is funny.

Hey Arnold! on Nickelodeon for the jazz music. And it is nice.

How They Filmed Wall•E

By mimicking a camera on a dolly and finessing the lens mathematics to make act like the real thing.

Fascinating stuff at Animation World.

Philip K. Dick's 'Ubik'

Celluloid Dreams purchased the movie rights to the book.

I just borrowed the book from Dom and read it last December 2007.

So how many Philip K. Dick books have been turned into movies?

Does Jane Austen even compete?

300

Finally saw '300' on HBO last night, about a year after its release.

When Xerxes made his first appearance it struck me that Yul Brynner would be just a good choice as Rodrigo Santoro.

If he was alive.

And 30 years old, or so.

And yes, I enjoyed the movie.

Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr is fitting for the role.

He can totally relate to Tony Stark's bout with alcoholism and 'personal difficulties'.

No word on wether I want to watch it. I am shying away from movies with nowadays too much CGI... preferring animated features (drawn or stop-motion).

Martin Scorsese "Shine a Light"

For reasons I cannot yet fully articulate, this film will be on my buy list.

I have not purchased DVDs in 2 years.

No. I did not download the movies I want to watch.

I did not watch much movies at all.

It all started with Star Wars Episode 1, then came Star Wars Episode II... I got sick of all the CGI.

I have it said it before: Steven Spielberg tells better stories than George Lucas.
