Remember this the next time you enter a parking lot and guards 'check' your car for explosives: they have little or no relevant training with even less follow up training.
Bomb sniffing dogs? Like people, dogs need periodic re-training. But do they spend for re-training?
Ask your nearest Mall or bomb-sniffing dog handlers for the answer.
Besides suicide bombers do not hit and run (DUHHHH...), they will just ram their way through these 'security checks' and detonate at a time and place convenient to their needs.
