Iran, Iraq, Ireland & Indiana

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

It is Indiana!

Eye-ran.

Eye-rack.

Eye-rland.

Of course there is nothing wrong with pronouncing Ireland as 'eye-rland'.

But Iran and Iraq are pronounced with hard 'E'.

Why do a lot of Americans who appear on TV mis-pronounce Iran and Iraq? Profound hatred?

By the way, the Brits do not appear to have this problem.
